Code of Conduct for Club Officials and Club Members.
All members must:
Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.
Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.
Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
Display consistently high standards of behaviour.
Follow all guidelines laid down by Athletics NI and KEL.
Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.
Encourage fellow athletes to value their performances and not just results.
Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
Never actively promote anti-social behaviour, lude acts or force any KEL member into taking part in such activities.
Shall accept and observe the authority and decisions of officials and all other disciplinary bodies.
Shall promote the reputation of the club and take all possible steps to prevent it from being brought into disrepute.
Shall not commit a doping offence in accordance with the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) Code.
Shall not use foul language or abusive language or gestures towards race officials or spectators.
Be a good sport - win with modesty, lose with dignity.
Co-operate with coach, team-mates and opponents.
Thank officials and opponents after competition.
Shall not publicly behave in a way (including expressing views on all forms of Social Media and internal messaging platforms eg WhatsApp) which is likely to intimidate, offend, insult, humiliate or discriminate against any other person on the ground of gender, race, disability, age, religious or political belief, sexual orientation, social background, ethnic origin, language or marital/ civil partnership status. This is not an exhaustive list and may be added to as the committee see fit.
* Every member is under an obligation to comply to this Code of Conduct * KEL is obliged to monitor compliance with and impose sanctions for the breaches of the Code of Conduct by persons under its membership. *
For breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Committee of KEL may impose penalties as it deems appropriate.

2.0 Code of Conduct for Coaches
Arrive in plenty of time to set up your activities and ensure safety
Keep yourself informed about sound coaching practices
Be reasonable in your demands on participant’s time, energy and enthusiasm
Hold appropriate valid qualifications or be working towards such qualifications and insurance cover.
The successful coach invests in the well-being and interests of their players, not their win/loss record
Teach your athletes that honest effort is more important than victory so that the result of each race is accepted without undue disappointment
Never ridicule or shout at a participant for making a mistake
Divide your time equally between all standards of athlete
Check you have adequate insurance cover for the coaching you are undertaking.
Ensure you and your athletes have respect for their opponents, the officials and opposing coaches and supporters
Follow advice from a professional when determining if an injured player is ready to play or train
Take responsibility for the people in your care until they have safely left the activity
